HI, I’M NICOLAS HOFERER
Welcome. Here, I show my work and share my honest thoughts. I have a Master’s in Computer Science from ETH Zurich. I’m obsessed with entrepreneurship, fitness, and building things that make a difference. Right now, my biggest obsession is AI. AI is a huge change that will affect everything. My energy is focused on understanding AI, building for this new AI-First world, and helping others see what’s coming. A big part of how I do this is through MindMode.ch, a company I co-founded where we provide consulting and training in the Generative AI space. This AI shift is happening fast, so we need to act and build now.
Obsession is everything to me. I’ve come to realize that balance limits me, and it’s on the edges where I thrive.
I obsess in work and the gym to the point where everything around me blurs out. When I relax, I deeply relax. When I play, I play hard. When I work, I’m all in, especially with AI. My main focus now is an AI-First approach. I’m building AI solutions and trying to understand the big impact of this new AI wave. It’s changing all industries and how we do everything. This isn’t just about adding AI to old things. It’s about building new things from the start with AI at the center. This is exciting and urgent – the future is being made right now, and I want to be a part of shaping it.
I was seeking to balance my life, but found that it was a detriment to me.
I made the decision to let go of the need to seek balance and instead embrace what I’m passionate about. I begin to focus on the things that made me excited, that made me want to jump out of bed every morning.
This shift in mindset is life-changing. It makes it clear where I should put my energy. And right now, most of my energy is going into AI. We’re in a time of big technological change with AI that will affect every industry and every old way of doing things. It’s important to build with an AI-First mindset – to not just get used to AI, but to help decide what comes next. There’s no time to wait. The future is moving faster. If people don’t jump into this change with all they have, they will be left behind.
If a relationship is going nowhere, I cut it. If a gig is not offering growth, I look for something else. If something doesn’t serve me, I let it go.
I’m no longer trying to please everyone, and instead I live my life on my own terms. No more pretending to be interested just to be nice. No more acting to impress girls. No more sticking to routines for the sake of having a routine.
Speaking my truth is necessary, even if others don’t like it. Holding back is against my values and destroys me in the long term. So I’m direct and callout bullshit.
I realized that the life I want is so uncommon, that 99 % of people cannot grasp it. This means most advice is irrelevant to me. Most perspectives and beliefs are irrelevant to me.
People talk me down, because they don’t see themselves achieving what I’m going for.
I know it is possible, and I continue to press forward in my own direction.
My obsession, that feeling of ‘not enough’ mixed with knowing I can do anything – these are my superpowers. To live this way, you need to be very tough. I’ve learned that the main thing that helps you win in the end is to never stop trying, no matter what. So, I accept when people say no, when I fail, and when things hurt. I accept that I’m different. I accept I miss out on some things. I accept my journey is not common, and I’m okay with that. I just know I will never stop.
My obsession is my fuel, my drive, and the source of my success.
I will continue to push forward, I will never quit.
I’m obsessed and I’m proud.

Quotes
“Martin Heidegger, the German philosopher said, “Freedom for a human being can be found in the actions that one takes,” and I’m going to paraphrase here, “can be found in the actions that one takes when confronted by one’s default self.” That is, when I notice my default self and yet I act independently of that, Heidegger says that was and is freedom for a human being.” Gary John Bishop
“Without ambition, one starts nothing. Without work, one finishes nothing. The prize will not be sent to you. You have to win it.” Ralph Waldo Emerson
